Should Fire Departments Invest in an Emergency Plug

Firefighters are being sold a specialized tool designed to stop electric vehicles (EVs) from moving unexpectedly during accident response or maintenance. This device plugs into the vehicle’s charging port and tricks the car into thinking it is charging, which activates a built-in safety protocol that prevents it from driving away. The cost can be upwards of $1500 per device.
